Domain Forwarding
A technique on the world wide web for making a web page available under many domain names.
Domain Name
The "address" or URL of a particular Web site. This is also how you describe the name that is at the right of the @ sign in an Internet address. For example, netlingo.com is the domain name of this Internet dictionary. There is an organization called InterNIC that registers domain names for a small fee and keeps people from registering the same name. Most recently, more domain names will be allowed due to new suffixes coming out.
Domain Name Registration
The process whereby a unique domain name is selected and registered by a user, giving the user the right to use that domain name for their Web site.
Domain Name Server (DNS)
The server that translates a domain name into an IP address.
Domain Parking
Parking simply means a Domain Name holder has not the IP addresses of the servers that will host his or her web site and wishes to reserve the name for later use.
Domain Registrar
An organization such as Uniforum that has control over the granting of domains within certain Top Level Domains (TLDs).
Domain Transfer
the process of transferring a domain name from one web hosting service to another.
Top Level Domain (TLD)
The portion of a traditional domain name that comes after the dot. So, in opensrs.org, the top level domain is .org. The generic top level domains (gTLDs) are .com, .net and .org; there are also country code top level domains (ccTLDs) such as .za, or .uk.
